About PATA Annual Summit

This PATA Flagship event embraces a global tourism forum, a technical tour to explore the hosting destination, and the Association’s annual meetings. The event brings together international thought leaders, industry shapers, and senior decision-makers who are professionally engaged with the Asia Pacific region.

The event will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas, collaborations, and networking.

Getting There 

Airports:

  • Istanbul Airport (IST) is the primary international airport, with flights connecting to all major global cities.

  • Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), located on the city’s east, primarily serves regional and domestic flights but also offers some international connections.

By Car/bus: İstanbul is well-connected to neighbouring destinations through highways and bus services. Regular buses link Türkiye with many Balkan and European cities.

By Train: High-speed trains connect İstanbul to major cities in Türkiye such as Ankara and Konya, with international train routes also available.

All visitors must hold a passport valid for at least six (6) months.

Electricity

Türkiye Electricity is 230 Volts at 50 Hz.

The power plugs and sockets are most commonly Type C and Type F, which have two round pins.

Travel Essentials

  • Türkiye has one time zone: Three hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+3).

  • Türkiye’s official language is Türkish. In addition, there are three widely spoken languages in some parts of the destination: Kurdish and Arabic.

  • İstanbul is a culturally diverse city with deep roots in Islamic traditions while also embracing modernity and international influences. The dominant religion is Islam, with numerous mosques and religious sites. However, İstanbul is also home to Christian and Jewish communities.

  • The climate of İstanbul can be defined as transitional Mediterranean; it has quite cold winters, but otherwise possesses Mediterranean characteristics.

    The city is located in the west of Türkiye, at 41 degrees north latitude, in the Bosphorus strait, which separates the Black Sea from the Sea of Marmara, and also Europe from Asia.

    The average temperature during May is around 17.9ºC (64.1ºF), with the range being 13.7 - 22.1ºC (57 - 72ºF).

    Recommended periods to visit İstanbul are during spring and autumn. Particularly, the months of May, June, and September.

  • The local currency is the Türkish Lira (TRY), valued at 35.86 TRY to 1 US dollar as of January 31, 2025.

  • The international dialling code for Türkiye is +90.  The area code for İstanbul is 212 for the European side and 216 for the Asian side.
