Meet Our New Interns!
We’ve had the pleasure to welcome nine new staff who joined us as Intern Associates and will be helping the Association progress during these times of restoration in the third quarter of 2021. Let’s get to know them!
Chaelim Kim - Marketing Intern
Hi everybody, I'm Chaelim Kim from Korea (ROK). I am a challenger who loves traveling and meeting various people from different cultures. It’s so sad that we work remotely due to the COVID-19, but I am learning a lot and motivated by all the passionate PATA people through online. I can’t imagine how amazing it would be if I was working in Bangkok.
As I major in Tourism and Convention, I have always hoped to join the international tourism industry. I applied to PATA in the hopes of learning the real operation and developing my skills as a tourism talent. Currently, I am assisting the PATA Marketing Department and acquiring professional skills from my best team members. I believe this internship opportunity at PATA will enhance my understanding of the tourism industry and my abilities!
Seung-eun Han - Marketing Intern
Nice meeting you all! I am Seung-eun Han.
I like being around people and interact with different cultures and nationalities. I have been keen to join PATA since I was young. As a person who wants to achieve coexistence through tourism, PATA is a great avenue to learn academic knowledge and achieve success in the field of tourism by creating platforms for promoting sustainable development.
I love sharing my own experiences and interests with others, so I have been making visual content of all kinds that are approachable to people throughout the world. My adventurous personality supported me to create colourful videos, photography, blogging, and more. I am now passionate about keep connecting PATA’s stories widely as a Marketing Intern.
I am thrilled to engage in this amazing PATA family and looking forward to going on this beautiful journey together!
Akshay V - Youth Intern
Hey! I am Akshay from the land of unity and diversity, India. I have recently finished my post graduation in MBA Tourism Management from Christ University, Bangalore and also hold a degree in visual communication. I have always had a passion to travel, and I never let go of any chance for it. I am really passionate about the different cultures of the world and love to connect with the global community.
Working as the youth intern with Aletheia, the Youth Ambassador, has given me the opportunity to assist the travel aspiring youth across the world to build a better community. Thanks to PATA, I now get to learn more about the tourism industry which helps me to grow into an emerging professional in the industry.
Subin Park - Youth Intern
Engaging in PATA amid the pandemic is an exciting challenge as huge shifts in the tourism sector are now inevitable to adapt to this crisis. I am from Korea (ROK) and last year I was about to move to Thailand to join PATA if it had not been for the virus. Not only this plan but also my career objectives had changed a lot since 2020, and soon I’ll be moving to Sweden to pursue MSc in International Development and Management (LUMID) at Lund University.
My field of interest lies in connecting people over borders and nationalities. I joined the Youth Department to learn how I could empower young people to stay connected with each other even in these kinds of harsh times. My previous work experience as a programme assistant at UNESCO APCEIU and as a student chapter leader of UNESCO ASPnet led me to the conviction that I desire to develop practical skills that would gather people to strive for common values. Although offline activities are still quite restricted, I hope I could get the most out of the internship by getting through this unique online environment, pondering on concrete methods for enhancing tourism destination resilience, and questioning further how PATA as a youth catalyst could efficiently support the young students in need.
Ngo Hai Ha - Events Intern
I am Ha Ngo from Vietnam and a Tourism and Hospitality Management student at RMIT University.
I am very into traveling, meeting new people and socialising, and I am also passionate about studying and researching for new knowledge, especially in the field of tourism and travel. I joined the Events Department of PATA on June 28, but I have already met many hospitable and amiable people that I can learn a lot from.
During my internship at PATA, I think the most valuable skills I have learnt so far is how to work in a professional but dynamic working environment. Especially because I have a huge interest in tourism and travel, PATA allows me to have new insights into sustainable tourism development in a global manner. Although it is a shame that I cannot help organise offline events during this internship, acknowledging how to do virtual events and webinars is still a great experience for the beginning of my career.
Soobin Lee - Events Intern
Hi! My name is Soobin Lee. I am from Korea (ROK). I am currently studying tourism and English literature and language in Hanyang University. Since I am a very curious person, traveling has always been a great adventure for me. Not only it helped me fulfill my curiosity, but also allowed me to encounter various cultures and people. These experiences have broaden my perspective. In the future, I want to work in the tourism industry, especially in the MICE industry. I think working in the MICE industry will be very interesting because I will be able to connect tourism with many other industries, so I am really happy to be working in the PATA Events Department. I hope I can learn a lot about how the actual tourism industry works. I am also excited about working with people from different countries. I hope we can still interact a lot through online!
Candice Antonio - Communications Intern
Candice Antonio is from India, Bangalore. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Travel and Tourism Management in Christ University. At PATA, she is a part of the Communications Department – Communications Associate. She is proud to have been selected as the Secretary for PATA India Christ University Student Chapter. She has also completed her IATA training from Christ University, simultaneously working as a dance teacher.
Candice is passionate about dancing and enjoys spending time gardening. She also gets creative with her extra time by creating DIY Crafts. Learning is a part of every step in her life, and she therefore embraces the quote “Climb Higher! For the best view comes after the Hardest Climb”
Izceah Palmes - Membership Intern
Hello, lovely people! I am Izceah from the Philippines. I am currently taking up Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hotel Management, Major in Tourism Management at Far Eastern University, Manila. I was a former member of the PATA Philippines FEU Student Chapter during my freshman to sophomore years. In that journey, I learnt to appreciate and understand more the concept of differences through interacting with people of diverse backgrounds.
As a personal mission, I strive to continuously challenge myself to go beyond my comfort zone. I sincerely believe that a collection of experiences comes with valuable lessons which will help us grow. Now, I am taking another step to challenge myself by working as an intern in the Membership Department. As a Membership Intern, I am lucky enough to be working with fun and amazing team players. Hopefully, I can contribute and apply my skills to help the team achieve their goals.
Jinal Dalal - Sustainability & Social Responsibility Intern
Jinal is a Sustainability and Social Responsibility Associate at PATA. Prior to this, she has supported sustainability projects such as Belize Barrier Reef Protection for the World Wildlife Fund, Future of Tourism Coalition, and economic development for the Big Bay Stewardship Council as a Program and Research Intern at the Center for Responsible Travel.
Jinal has also been a graduate student consultant on two major sustainability projects – sustainability assessment for Destinations International and sustainable business strategy development for a US restaurant chain to reduce single-use plastic waste and carbon footprint.
Currently, Jinal is pursuing her MS in Travel and Tourism Management from New York University and serves as the Director of Professional Development. Jinal also holds a certificate in Sustainable Business Strategy from the Harvard Business School.
She has a deep interest in decarbonising the travel industry and demonstrating the financial and the business value of integrating sustainability into the core business strategy of travel companies.
About the PATA Internship Program
The PATA Internship Programme provides students with the opportunity to learn about PATA and the travel & tourism industry on an international scale. Interns will be required to perform operational, support, and administrative tasks in various parts of the organisation at PATA Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. The next round of applications will be reviewed for September 2021. The best time to apply is in May & June. Interviews will be conducted through video calls.
