PATA Thailand Chapter : Breaks New Ground by Monitoring Impact of Oct 6 Mass Killings on Brand Image

Bangkok, November 1, 2022 – The PATA Thailand chapter has conducted the first industry opinion survey to monitor the impact of the Oct 6 mass killings on the image and branding value proposition of Thailand as a tourism destination.

The tragedy sent shockwaves through Thailand and triggered deep soul-searching about how an otherwise peaceful, friendly and hospitable society is being impacted by political, financial, technological and economic pressures, and many other factors.

Because it also resulted in several days of international media coverage, the PATA Thailand Chapter Executive Committee felt it was important to get some feel for how it had impacted the generally positive image of Thailand and the Thai people.

A questionnaire with some basic questions in both Thai and English was drafted and circulated across several travel industry forums and educational institutions. A total of 127 responses were received within 72 hours.

See the charts with the full results below. Many comments were also received. These are being translated into both Thai and English and will be published later.
