Unveiled the Winner for Talent Basket Open Innovation (OI) Idea Challenge: Looking beyond COVID-19

TAIPEI, 5th November, 2020 - Talent Basket gathered 12 industry professionals acting as mentors for 34 talents with 15 different nationalities for the Open Innovation (OI) Idea Challenge, launched on Aug 15, 2020. It was an innovative 2 months packed with creative ideas and knowledge sharing. On Oct 29, we held an e-award ceremony to commemorate the teams’ innovations and announced the winner!

COVID-19 has fundamentally re-shaped our world. Borders are shut, and businesses are impacted. How can countries, destinations, businesses, professionals, and students adapt to the new norm, enabling a resilient future?

“Looking beyond COVID-19, the future of living, learning, and travelling” is Talent Basket’s first Global Citizenship Open Innovation Initiatives, with the aim to leverage its global youth network as the change catalyst and generate forward-thinking ideas, under the mentorship of industry professionals.

“We are proud of our team and talents who have worked tirelessly worldwide to pull off this ambitious initiative. The Talent Basket Open Innovation program is truly an inclusive platform where youth and adults from different industries and nationalities join forces to solve pressing global issues. It reminds us that global citizens can come together to create a more sustainable world through social innovation ” by Founder and CEO of Talent Basket, Jason Lin.

12 teams worked closely with their mentors to develop an implementation plan for during and post COVID-19. They helped participating organizations to innovate online volunteering initiatives, travel conversation mobile application, explore new target markets, redefined tourism experiences, sustainable tourism practices and proposed smart initiatives for quarantine hotels.

List of mentors from companies like Bright Side Projects, Coresight Research, Forte Hotel Group, Galilee Tours, Google, Guam Visitors Bureau, Nanani World, PATA Micronesia Chapter, Perfect Link Consulting, Sustainable Travel Taiwan, The Spike Lab and Winding Tree, participated in this OI Idea Challenge.

The winning team was from Bright Side Project, mentored by the Founder Daisy Lin, led by TB Talent Captain Tessa Anthony. Their team members consist of Candice Sarah Antonio, Prerna Hatyal and Shiva Hari Unnithan. They designed a list of creative online and offline activities to help the Association to solve their current situation of not being able to run volunteering activities and continuously improve the lives of children and families.

“Congratulations! I can’t begin to express how impressed I am by your passion, creativity, talent and ability to work together as a cohesive team. I’m excited for the next step incorporating your ideas into our program so our Bright Side youth can have a brighter future thanks to you all!!” by Founder of the Bright Side Project, Daisy Lin.

The winning team received gift vouchers or their choice and an opportunity to work closely with the Management Team from Bright Side  to execute their proposed implementation plan for their children and volunteers.

Apart from the amazing mentors and young professionals who made this happen, this idea challenge was supported by Talent Basket’s newly launched online internship recruitment and training platform.
