PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter- Break the Bias: A panel discussion on 'Gender Equality for Sustainable Tomorrow'
Bangalore, India, March 8, 2022 – PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter conducted a panel discussion, ‘Break the Bias’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022. The panel discussion was on the topic ‘Gender Equality for a Sustainable Tomorrow’. It focused on women from tourism and other sectors of the corporate world and their achievements in the same, as well as raising awareness against the bias faced by them in their journey.
The chief guest for the discussion was Ms. Hema M. Srinivas. She has over 27 years of work experience across industries – learning and development, consulting and BFSI. She is also a member of the CII – Indian Women Network, Telangana and TiE Hyderabad. She gave us insightful knowledge regarding the differences, women face compared to men, as well as how the same can be overcome at various levels especially focusing on the personal level and motivating all the women to always stay active and connected with people and not letting go off their careers.
Our panelist for the discussion was Anne Louise Palomares, Director of Marketing, PATA Philippines LPU Manila Student Chapter. Her active participation and points added value to the discussion. She pointed out the challenges as well as the biases faced by women in the society by talking about male dominance, objectification of women and role of gender. Her presence enriched the whole discussion.
The students of the tourism sector were the audience for the panel discussion. They were exposed to new and engaging perceptions and ideas and were quite motivated after the discussion. They were enthusiastic and active throughout and asked meaningful questions.

Founded in 2020, PATA India CHRIST University Student Chapter is India’s first PATA Student Chapter. The organisation is run by students of the tourism discipline of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) to benefit more than 250 members spanning across undergraduate and postgraduate tourism programmes in the university.
