PATA Thailand Bangkok University Student Chapter Initiate the Community Service, Beach Cleaning in Kho Samed Island
Rayong, Thailand, 27-28th, Feburary 2024 - During the 'Travellocal in Rayong' field trip to Koh Samed Island, the PATA Thailand Bangkok University student chapter led beach cleaning activities in partnership with Bangkok University International, Koh Kaew Pitsadan School, and local authorities. Together, we cleared 140 kilograms of waste, highlighting their commitment to environmental conservation and promoting community engagement in sustainable tourism practices.
On February 27-28, 2024, the PATA Thailand Bangkok University chapter, students from Bangkok University International, Koh Kaew Pitsadan School, and local officials joined forces for a beach cleaning initiative on Koh Samed Island. Led by our chapter, we successfully cleared and removed 140 kilograms of trash and plastic from the shoreline. This activity strengthened community bonds and raised awareness about marine pollution and sustainable tourism practices.
The field trip cultivated teamwork and community spirit while making a tangible difference in cleaning up the beach. It highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and inspired us to take responsibility for protecting our coastal environments. During this event, participants learned about the harm caused by ocean and beach litter, seeing how it affects marine life. They discovered the power of community action in keeping oceans clean and protecting wildlife. The event stressed responsible tourism and ways to reduce waste, promoting environmental care. Overall, it highlighted how individual actions can preserve healthy oceans and coastlines for all to enjoy.

Our cleanup activities also contributed to maintaining cleaner environments for coastal wildlife, aligning with global goals to protect natural habitats and promote sustainable practices.
In conclusion, the 'Travellocal in Rayong' field trip underscored the importance of teamwork and environmental care. By cleaning 140 kilograms of litter, raising awareness about marine pollution, and promoting sustainable tourism, the event showed how small actions can lead to significant positive impacts for our oceans and coastal areas.
