RMIT Hanoi’s Tourism and Hospitality Club celebrate World Tourism Day by hosting contest for high school students
Hanoi, Vietnam, 3rd October, 2020 - RMIT University Vietnam’s Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) Club hosted a competition titled “World Tourism Day - Future of Tourism in Vietnam.” Aimed at high school students, the contest celebrated World Tourism Day 2020 by encouraging them to think about Vietnam’s tourism industry future, post COVID-19.
Participants were asked to submit a creative product of their choosing (in writing or with videos) that described in detail their own visions on how the tourism industry will look like in the next 10 years. The judges were various experienced professionals from the industry, along with academic staff from RMIT University Vietnam & advisors of the THM Club. A final voting round was done on social media for the finalists, open to discussion amongst peers.
The competition serves as a platform to create awareness about Vietnam’s tourism industry among high school students. THM wanted to provide a platform for the youth to apply logical thinking and express their creativity towards a project that can deepen their appreciation for Vietnam’s tourism potential. These skills are critical when it comes to shaping the future of Vietnam as a tourist destination, and all submissions are proof of their passion & effort to bring about a more sustainable future to tourism & hospitality.
In order to visualize their visions, throughout the course of the contest, participants acquired in-depth knowledge about tourism’s prime components and broaden their horizons of Vietnam's unique culture and heritage. Most importantly, the competition has enabled them to develop a comprehensive vision of tourism’s future development that focuses on not only the economic dimension but also the environment and society aspects. With submissions being uploaded on social media for the final voting round, it had also been a great way for viewers to take a look and learn more about the potential tourism industry in Vietnam, and how prepared the youths are to take charge of this future.
