PATA India Christ University Student Chapter: Field Visit on National Handloom Day: Cubbonpete

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, 8th August 2024 - PATA India Christ University Student Chapter, in collaboration with students from the Master of Travel and Tourism Management, Department of Tourism Management, Christ University, organised an enriching field visit to Cubbonpete, a renowned hub of traditional handloom in Bengaluru. The visit was part of the National Handloom Day celebrations, offering students a firsthand experience of the intricate process of handloom weaving. The visit allowed the students to engage with local weavers, understand their challenges, and appreciate the artistry behind each handwoven fabric. The tour included demonstrations of traditional weaving techniques, providing valuable insights into the cultural significance and the meticulous craftsmanship of these beautiful textiles.

Buying handloom products is not just about owning a piece of art but an investment in a sustainable future. Handlooms are eco-friendly, using minimal resources and often relying on natural dyes, which are less harmful to the environment. Supporting handloom products contributes to the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage while promoting ethical consumption. By choosing handloom over mass-produced fabrics, we help sustain the livelihoods of countless artisans and reduce our carbon footprint, making it a win-win for both society and the environment.
