PATA India Iim Sirmaur Student Chapter Hosts Industry Stalwarts on National Tourism Day

India, February 15th, 2024 - On January 25th, 2024, IIM Sirmaur commemorated National Tourism Day by hosting the Industry Advisory Board (IAB), composed of industry leaders from firms such as IndiGo, American Express GBT, Cordelia Cruises and many more. Over the course of two days, the IAB members actively engaged with faculty and students, offering invaluable insights and expertise to assist in career development.

Day one commenced with insightful deliberations led by Director Prof. Prafulla Agnihotri and faculty member Dr. Sana Maidullah. Industry leaders shared their knowledge and vision for the future of tourism, guiding the refinement of our MBA Tourism Management program and curriculum. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to solidify IIM Sirmaur's presence within the tourism industry, followed by a productive networking dinner.

Day two commenced with a collaborative tree planting initiative at our permanent campus, for fostering strengthened connections. A subsequent Career Enhancement Workshop facilitated one-on-one interactions between students and IAB members, allowing students to gain valuable knowledge and guidance from respected leaders. Shehaat a self-help group also setup a stall in the campus selling indigenous himachali food and handicraft items. The day culminated in a vibrant celebration of Himachal Day, featuring a traditional Nati dance performance and the presentation of Chambal Thaal as mementos to guests.

Additionally, an IndiGo case competition challenged students to showcase their analytical and problem-solving skills. The winning teams were duly recognized with medals and certificates of appreciation.

Through this strategic initiative, IIM Sirmaur successfully achieved its dual objectives: solidifying its partnership with the tourism industry and promoting the rich local culture, thereby fostering IIM Sirmaur's international visibility.
