Regional Collaboration: Rebuilt & Reboot Tourism

Bangalore, India, 8th November, 2020 – COVID 19 had a great impact on the tourism industry. In this unprecedented time, the event titled “Regional Collaboration : Rebuilt & Reboot Tourism” - an event to promote tourism in South Asia was just concluded virtually on 6th & 7th November’2020 by Student Chapters of India CHRIST University in collaboration with Bangladesh Dhaka University, and Nepal. The said event was aimed to enlighten young tourism professionals with innovative ideas that could change the course of the industry in the coming future.

The event saw Director, India Tourism, Shri. Mohamed Farouk along with the counterpart from Bangladesh and Nepal, Shri. Jabed Ahmed, CEO, Tourism Board and Shri. Khem Raj Lakia, Hon’ble Treasurer, Nepal Chapter respectively gracing the occasion and interacting with students across the region.

Day one was focussed on Tourism post Covid-19 and among the prominent speaker included various CEO’s and Managing Director from Travel, Tourism and Advertising Industry discussing on various strategies and approaches taken by private and public sectors to enhance tourism and ensure the safety of travellers in the post-pandemic world. Day two was solely aimed to spread awareness about Geographical Indicators (G.I), the tag given to products from a specific location or region, which act as a kind of certification that the product possesses certain qualities and is made as per traditional methods. GI aims to boost its market through uniform pricing and by improving export prospects and the benefit it has to society through its utilization.

The final session on the day two gave students the chance to be mentored by tourism industry professionals. The young tourism industry aspirants gained a lot from the event and the enthusiastic participation received is an encouraging reminder of the way that the tourism industry as we know it is going to evolve dramatically under the leadership of the dynamic youth.

The Speakers Conclave was a wonderful opportunity that facilitated the collaboration of three South Asian student chapters, which is promising for our future as global citizens
